Brand activations with movie cars — a producer's guide

Why iconic movie cars work as a brand activation, which metrics they actually move, and how to brief them to get full value out of the spend.

If you work in an event agency, in a marketing team, or as a freelance producer, you’ve almost certainly circled the classic problem: how to get people to stop at your stand, at your street activation, at your launch. The standard answer has been hosts, giveaways, food trucks, photo walls. The less standard — and, on the data from our events, more effective — answer is an iconic movie car people recognise on sight.

Why it works: three measurable effects

1. Dwell time. At B2B activations at shows like Mobile World Congress, we’ve measured dwell times 2-3× higher than comparable stands without an iconic element. People come over out of curiosity, stay to take the photo, and stay longer so the stand team can engage.

2. Organic social content. Every activation with the DeLorean or KITT produces between 200 and 800 organic posts on social (estimated from trackable hashtag mentions). The cost per organic impression is laughable next to paid media.

3. Editorial coverage. At brand launches with press in attendance, the cars frequently appear in headlines and coverage photography more than the product itself. Two birds with one stone: the car delivers the press moment, the product slides into the composition.

Why the DeLorean and KITT specifically

There are iconic cars. There are iconic brands. The intersection — cars that are iconic because of a cultural brand, not an automotive one — is very small. The DeLorean Time Machine and KITT are probably the two most recognisable cars in Western film and television, and they have a property that makes them even more useful: they work without needing to be explained. You don’t tell anyone what it is. People see it and they get it.

For a brand activation this matters enormously: the half-second of “what is this?” before “oh right, I see what this is” is where you lose the visitor. With these cars there is no half-second.

KITT with AI: the actual differentiator

This is the thing you do need to explain to your client: our KITT carries a real conversational AI on board. Not pre-recorded clips — KITT speaks, listens and responds, live, in English, Spanish or Portuguese. And it works without venue Wi-Fi.

For an activation, this changes the format. KITT can:

  • Greet guests and direct them to the right area of the stand.
  • Answer questions about the agenda, speakers, prize draws, timings — we pre-load the event data.
  • Act as brand spokesperson, delivering the product’s key points in his signature voice.
  • Trigger effects (smoke, oil slick, lasers, scanner) on command for the key moments.

We don’t know of another KITT like this anywhere. For your client, this is the kind of differentiating factor that closes the decision.

How to brief it

If you’re presenting the idea internally, these are the points to cover:

  1. Event objective: brand awareness? Lead generation? Press moment? Experiential activation? The setup changes by objective.
  2. Type of space: trade-show stand, stage, street, store, hotel. Determines the effects you can run.
  3. Duration: one afternoon, one day, several days. Affects the technical crew needed.
  4. Brand message: which phrases you want KITT to deliver, what defines the product, what the call to action is.
  5. Audiovisual production: is a video team covering the event? If so, we coordinate with you and with them.

Cost and logistics

For corporate activations, our base rates are: €900/day for KITT alone, €1,200/day for the DeLorean alone, from €1,800/day for both together. We add transport (€0.50/km round trip from Pilar de Horadada, Alicante), a technical operator for the contracted days, and VAT.

For more complex productions (multi-day, multi-city, international) we build bespoke quotes. We accept Net 30 payment for established agencies.

What to ask for to evaluate

If you’re considering including us in a brief but want more before you commit, download our full pitch deck (PDF) and the KITT AI technical one-pager (PDF). They contain cases, photography, indicative costing and the technical details your team needs to present internally.
