Giancarlo Esposito sat in our DeLorean at FreakCon Málaga

Three days at FreakCon Málaga 2026 — cosplayers, crowds, smoke effects on the hour, and one Better Call Saul star in the driver's seat.

Three days in Málaga. A queue at the car that never broke. And then — Giancarlo Esposito sat down in the driver’s seat.

FreakCon Málaga 2026 ran 22–25 May at the city’s Palacio de Ferias y Congresos, and we spent the whole weekend with the DeLorean Time Machine parked on the red carpet outside the main entrance. For three days the car was the first thing every attendee walked past on the way in, the last thing on the way out, and the photo every single one of them stopped for.

The Giancarlo Esposito moment

We weren’t expecting it. Halfway through Saturday a small group walked over from the convention floor — and there was Giancarlo Esposito, the actor whose name needs no introduction (Gus Fring in Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, Moff Gideon in The Mandalorian, Stan Edgar in The Boys). He climbed into the DeLorean, settled into the driver’s seat, gave a thumbs up to the camera and stayed for several minutes chatting about how the car was built.

It’s the kind of moment you can’t plan for — it happens because the right people walk past the right car at the right kind of event. And it happens more often than you might think when the car is parked somewhere people who love it are guaranteed to be.

What FreakCon proved (again) about comic cons

We’ve said it on our corporate page: comic conventions are the natural home of our cars. Half the show floor is already in costume from Back to the Future, Knight Rider, The Mandalorian, or whatever else. They know the cars instantly. The plutonium case, the hoverboard prop, the OUTATIME plate — every detail is something a real fan has been wanting to see up close since they were eight.

Across the three days we ran:

  • The DeLorean with smoke effects firing every 20 minutes as a draw for the crowd outside
  • Continuous photo opportunities for attendees (with queues we managed to keep moving)
  • The full prop kit — plutonium case, hoverboard, custom date displays in the time circuits
  • Evening sessions where the lighting effects came into their own once the sun dropped

The result was a constant crowd from doors-open to doors-close on all three days.

If you’re a convention organiser

We work conventions across Spain, Portugal and the wider European circuit — Mobile World Congress, Heroes Comic Con Madrid, FICOMIC Barcelona, Salón del Manga, FreakCon Málaga, Comic Con Lisboa. If you’re programming for 2026 / 2027 and want the DeLorean (or KITT, with real conversational AI on board) as a stand activation, exhibition centrepiece, or red-carpet draw, send us the brief and we’ll come back with a fixed-cost proposal in 48 hours.

We can’t promise you a Giancarlo Esposito will turn up. But at the right kind of event, it turns out he might.
